Your child is struggling with school, and you aren't sure what to think or do. You attend meetings where you're asked about your boundaries and whether your anxiety might be affecting them. You wonder why this is happening, and if it's because you've done something wrong as a parent.
Some people say it's because you've made home too pleasant, and others say it must be because you've 'given them the option'. Or maybe they seem fine whilst they are at school, but after school things are extremely difficult, and you're told you just need to put more structure in place or use harsher consequences.
Life becomes a relentless cycle of worrying about the next day. Sometimes things go well and other times it's a disaster. You don't know what to think or how to help.
In this new webinar, Naomi and Eliza will talk about what it's like to be a parent when your child is struggling with school. They'll talk about how it feels to attend those meetings, and how school can start to dominate every element of family life. They'll discuss parent blame and the self-criticism which can result. They'll talk about the relentless cycle of trying new things which don't help, and how this can lead to despair and burnout.
These webinars combine professional expertise with lived experience. Eliza has a child who was not fine in school, and Naomi was a 'school refuser' herself aged five and thirteen.
This talk will focus on the parent's experience when your child is not fine at school. It will be compassionate, affirming and you will know that you are not alone.
This webinar will be recorded. Please choose that option at check out if you wish to watch a recording.
